We are hiring a Real Estate Development Controller with direct, hands-on experience in real estate and construction accounting to oversee the financial operations of multiple active projects and entities.This is not a corporate or public-accounting Controller role. We are specifically seeking someone who understands the full financial lifecycle of real estate projects--from acquisition and construction through stabilization and ongoing operations--and can step in with minimal ramp-up.If you have managed job cost accounting, WIP reporting, bank draws, and multi-entity real estate structures, this role is built for you.Learn more about us at: <a href="https://valiantgroup.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">https://valiantgroup.com/</a>What You'll Be Responsible For<ul><li>Oversee accounting for real estate development and construction projects, including ground-up builds and value-add remodels</li><li>Manage job cost tracking, budgets vs. actuals, and project-level financial reporting</li><li>Prepare and review bank draw packages, lender reporting, and draw schedules</li><li>Manage WIP and percentage-of-completion accounting</li><li>Oversee capitalization of hard costs, soft costs, and capitalized interest</li><li>Produce monthly and quarterly financial statements for multiple LLCs and entities</li><li>Support ownership with project-level, portfolio-level, and investor reporting</li><li>Coordinate with lenders, banks, title companies, and external CPAs</li><li>Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger with a focus on accuracy and timeliness</li><li>Support property management accounting, including NOI, cash flow, and operating statements</li><li>Implement and maintain strong internal controls and accounting processes</li></ul>This Role Requires Direct Experience With<ul><li>Real estate development and construction accounting (required)</li><li>Multiple active projects running simultaneously</li><li>Bank draws and lender reporting requirements</li><li>WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion accounting</li><li>Capitalized interest, hard vs. soft costs</li><li>LLCs, partnerships, and pass-through entity structures</li><li>Monthly project-level financials and ownership reporting</li><li>Multifamily and property management financial fundamentals</li><li>Candidates without real estate development or construction accounting experience will not be a fit for this role.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance</li><li>5+ years of accounting experience, with significant real estate development and construction focus</li><li>Proven experience supporting developers, ownership groups, or vertically integrated real estate firms</li><li>Strong working knowledge of GAAP as applied to real estate and construction</li><li>Advanced Excel skills; experience with construction or real estate accounting systems preferred</li><li>Ability to communicate clearly with ownership, lenders, CPAs, and operational teams</li><li>CPA is a plus, but hands-on real estate experience is more important than public accounting credentials.</li></ul>Compensation &amp; Benefits<ul><li>Full-time, on-site position</li><li>Salary range: $95,000 - $120,000, based on experience</li><li>Opportunity to work across development, construction, and operations</li><li>High visibility with ownership and leadership</li><li>Stable role within a growing, vertically integrated real estate company</li></ul>Why This Role Is Different<ul><li>You will be deeply involved in real projects, not just financial statements</li><li>You'll work directly with leadership on development decisions</li><li>Your expertise will directly impact project profitability and company growth</li><li>This is a role for someone who wants ownership, responsibility, and real influence</li></ul>Valiant Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
